My Jotunheimen

Jotunheimen’s in my opinion one of the most beautiful national parks in Norway (and maybe the most beautiful). It’ located on a vast area of the Scandinavian Mountains. This magnificent place is dominated by a high mountain landscape with over 20 peaks rise above 2,000 meters above sea level. We find here numerous, charming mountain lakes, often covered with ice even in the summer. However, the biggest impression is made by the huge Jostedalsbreen glacier and other, very numerous glaciers. Their power, blue colour and size make them admire, but they also terrify. I had the opportunity to visit this place three times, each time in the summer. Driving on the road no. 55 and 51, we’ll experience austere, raw, stunning and breathtaking views from the winter moon.

Next year I’m also going to visit Jotunheimen, smashing a tent by the road – like many others – and feel the rawness and beauty of this place a bit longer.

This National Park was on my original route on a 5 day trip from Bergen to Trondheim. Somehow we got off track exploring, and missed it sadly. But we did see some beautiful scenery on our route. I blogged about that trip if you want to check it out.
